You know who I’m talking about. It’s the people who not only like business and are passionate about it, but when you speak to them, you can tell they put on a “business face”.
They speak differently, they act differently, and most likely the aren’t like that all the time. I call it their “business voice”.
It’s inauthentic and creates a barrier between the person and whoever they are interacting with.
What’s worse, is most people that I’ve interacted with who use business voice tend to lean on this persona even outside of work environments. My theory is that they put so much of their self worth in what they accomplish in their work lives, that they like these personas more than their true selves.
Drop the persona. Let your true self shine. It will take you farther and you will also create more meaningful long term relationships.
